What do dental students do over their summer?

Recommended Posts

Some do research or maybe help out in the anatomy lab for the upcoming school year. I'd say most just enjoy the summer and take the time off since the school year is so busy. I've probably only shadowed once or twice since I started dental school, but I agree that might be hard to do now because of COVID.

yeah, research is always a good option but its something I did over last summer. We didn't get much clinical experience here where I go to school so I have been looking around practices that may mentor but I am having no luck. It's kinda hard to take a summer off because you are so used to being busy all the time.

At the Uofa we have a spring/summer intersession, so we get 6 weeks off. Most of us are really tired after the school year and take the time off to relax. Unless you already have a job, I feel like its a bit tougher to find one for a 6 week period. I did a bit of shadowing, and took time to work on personal hobbies.
