chateau22
In a divorce, would half of your RRSP/TFSA/corporation value go to your spouse? In addition, you'd have to pay spousal support as well if you're the higher income earner. A pre-nup wouldn't protect you from this, as it only protects assets you acquired before marriage correct? jonny5
bearded frog
Answering this would basically be legal advice and AFAIK there are no lawyers here. The answers are specific to your situation (and you assume that your spouse earns less?). Also depends on children, etc. A prenup can help sort this out ahead of time, and as far as I know can contain clauses for distribution of assets during marriage, but again you're going to have to ask a lawyer for a definitive answer. rmorelan
ha now there is an oddly advanced topic question Legal advice required indeed - although a marriage contract can sort out a lot of different things that you mention.
