Residency after 3 year U of C MD program?

Recommended Posts

I am wondering anyone can provide some insight regarding how many years residency takes after the 3 year MD program at University of Calgary. I'll be applying at the age of 30 and interested in Family Medicine if I am successful.

Is the Family Medicine residency a total of three year after the 3 year MD program? If so, totalling 6 years prior to being a fully registered physician with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta? Or am I totally off here?

Thank you!

Family medicine is typically 2 years across the whole country. So it'd be 3 years of medical school at Calgary and another 2 years of FM residency wherever you decide to go.
