1 year master's before dental school

I just applied to dental school for the first time (uoft and western) and was looking into applying to 1 year course-based masters' programs in case I don't get in.

I am worried about programs not being finished by Aug 15 for western or June 30 for UofT. Does anyone have experience with this? For example, one program offers work placement until the end of august. would that mean that I cannot enroll in dental school that September?
