Good luck to everyone!

Hi...hopefully this will help someone looking to apply next year!

I'm a resident of Toronto.

Applied in 4th McGill w/ cGPA=3.80

MCAT BS12, PS12, VR10, WSQ (34Q)

Rejected pre-interview: Columbia and Northwestern (Feinberg)

Waitlisted: Queen's

Accepted: U of T, Western, Mac and Johns Hopkins

Relatively few, but meaningful, ECs (didn't volunteer in 1-3rd year at all...just summers and did a few fundraisers). A few research positions but no papers. What was likely good about my app was cohesiveness...everything goes well together b/c I did what interested me!

I'm debating between U of T (home city) or JHU (scary city) :)

I applied as a fourth-year BSc (honours) applicant at UBC. I'm considered a BC resident (IP for UBC, but OOP for Calgary)

OMSAS GPA (for 3 years): 3.98

UofT GPA ~4.0

MCAT (2nd time) 37R (VR:12, PS:11, BS:14)

EC's: 2 summers of research (including NSERC) but no publications, some achievements in sports/music, some student government, volunteering in hospital, various volunteering in the community (a few of which were large committments)

Accepted: UofT, Western, UBC

Waitlisted: Queen's, Calgary

Rejected pre-interview: Mac

Notes:

- I did not volunteer overseas

- I thought my Western interview went horribly and that I didn't have a chance - but I guess my interviewers didn't think so. So, you never know.

4th (& final) year of BCEM degree at UofC

Applied to UofT, UofA, UofC, UofO, UofS, UofM

Waitlisted: UofM, UofO, UofS

Accepted: UofT, UofA, UofC

OMSAS GPA: 3.93 or something like that

toronto GPA: ~3.96ish

MCAT: 12/9/12 R

EC/Vol: various initiatives on and off campus, focusing in on teaching, public speaking, and leadership. I have no volunteer experience in a hospital. Instead, I am a guest speaker in highschool and junior highschool classes about drugs, and man the crisis phonelines. I think its important to do more than follow the 'volunteer in a hospital' routine. Diversify your experience, and you'll thank yourself when it comes interview time and you're answering questions *with your life experiences*. Did other things like student government, started and led various clubs on campus, mentored, etc.

Not sure where I am going, but it will likely be UofA.

This was my second time applying. last year i was rejected post interview at UofA, and that was the only one I applied to. So apply to many universities and hopefully one will work out for you!!! goodluck!

Not to sound like a jerk or anything, but you could just have easily got 45T. Wicked MCAT score and congrats on the acceptance!
