Guest Agent999
Hi, I know this is really subjective and personally; just be yourself and answer whatever comes in your mind. I am aware of that and I already got a general idea on answering most of the questions.. But my problem is the way to answer these questions. Although medschool interviews are assessments of your personality, motivations, and other inner qualities that arent apparent on your applications, and we shouldnt lie or give flattering answers that they want, but sometimes there may be a conflict between our qualities and those that medschool seek. For example, "why did u pick UT medicine?" to which my answer, quite frankly, is "because I really like Toronto, it's a much more exciting city than a place like kingston". However, I know this isnt quite the ideal response. So I should answer in the following manner "because I enjoy and look forward to working in Toronto, a city full of opportunities and excitement", or somewhere along those lines.. I am not trying to get spoonfed about interview answers, I just wanna learn the methods and tricks in answering questions that may give rise to conflicts, as well as some of the do's and dont's during an interview.. I tried looking everywhere on the web, but most of them are for job interviews, which doesnt quite apply fully. Any feedback are appreciated. Guest Lactic Folly
Hi there, You can look through the archives of the Medical Interviews part of this forum, where strategies for answering many different questions have been discussed.. also this page: www.premed101.com/interv.html As for the question, "why UT medicine" - liking the city might be part of your answer, but with this kind of question, you have to answer what's being asked.. why this medical school (not why this city).. so make sure to mention what you like about the medical school specifically. Guest coastal79
People don't speak the way they write. If we did, we would sound ridiculous. Your first answer to why you want to go to U of T sounds much better to me than the one you think you should use because the second one sounds like bs. Sincerity is extremely important-be yourself. Guest sparkle
Hi, I have to agree with coastal79! Your answer will sound that much more sincere because it's true and there's absolutely nothing wrong with liking the big city more than a small town (or vice versa). Who wants to sound like they're reading?? However, do be careful with the tone you use (i.e. you can emphasize your preference of a busy city like Toronto without mentioning Kingston...as it would already be implied)
