Guest Agent999
Hi, I have been checking a lot of the States' medschool, and it seems that most of them require or recommend at least first yr english. Unfortunately I have finished my undergrad and I didnt take any english courses I wonder if it it too late, or not a good idea, to take a yr in English or literature at UT or something. If so, should I take it as a non-degree program or second-degree program. Also, if I end up getting a bad mark with it, which I think I will since English isnt my best subject, will it lower my GPA and backfires at the end? Any suggestions are appreciated. Guest Guyver03
If you're interested in UBC med, you can take an English test that can get you pass the first year English requirement without ever taking the classes. The only requirement is you have to first have an undergrad degree. I think the test only works for UBC and you can't transfer it. Go check out the first year English homepage at UBC. Guest marbledust
If you are looking at taking an English class to meet the requirement, an introductory composition class would probably be more helpful than a literature class - although admittedly not as fun Writing skills are very important for a doctor, it would probably be worthwhile to take an English/writing class if you can (as oppossed to writing an exam at schools that have this in place).
