Guest archchivalry
Hello. I'm a highschool grade 12 student who is recently considering to go to medical school. I'm wondering if anyone know of mathematics/chartered accountancy or biotechnology/chartered accountancy program at UW. Will those accountancy courses provide preparation and prerequisites for medical school? Or are those programs like professional programs(engineering) so will it be hard to get a good GPA (or even get the degree)? ARe accountings professional programs? Thanks for your information. Guest gonzo23
I have a friend who finished biotech/accounting at UW. From what I gather you are able to take a fair bit of biology and a bit of chemistry so you should be ok getting orgo, biology and general chemistry. Physics and english on the other hand might be difficult. But it's best if you check the undergraduate calendar to see how many electives you get. I know the program is fairly structured and most people who finish go on to get their Chartered Accountant designation. The program focuses more on the accounting end than the science end so you have to be interested in accounting. You seem to be posting a fair bit about specific programs and how they will prepare you for medicine. People on this board come from a variety of backgrounds which provides good evidence that there are many viable paths one can take. It's best to choose what you want to do and take something you will succeed in. Remember, that to be eligible for medical school you are covered if you have a year of biology, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and social science/humanities. Schools in the states require physics and some schools in canada require a year of english. The rest of your program can be focused on any other area you desire.
