Medical Etymology

I'm writing a paper on medical terminology, especially the way new diseases and techologies are named. Can anyone please suggest any good research sources? I have looked at LOADS of sources, but most seem to do with the Greek and Latin roots of words. I'm looking more for a the actual system that controls the creation of medical terminology. Is anyone aware of a nomenclature committee for this?
