Guest Darkfalz
I keep hearing conflicting answers regarding this. Some say Oct 3rd, some say Oct 31st, some say Oct 14th.... What happens if they aren't in by Oct 3rd? One of my referees is very busy with grant apps, and hasnt had time to work on the letter.
Guest geekpunk
Which school?? Each school has different deadlines. Oct 3rd*= OMSAS (All Ontario Schools), Manitoba Oct 14th = Memorial Oct 31 = Dalhousie Nov 1st = Calgary Dec 1st = Saskatchewan Not sure of all other schools remaining 'cause I'm only applying to the ones listed! *OMSAS states that all Referee forms should be in by October 3rd, however, if they're not in by that date, they won't invalidate your application but will simply keep your application on file until the referre reports arrive. Not sure if other schools do the same, but probably similar procedures.
Guest silverjelly86
This question has been addressed a million times, but here goes: It's October 3. However, your application isn't nullified or anything if your references aren't in by Oct. 3, but they can't technically start evaluating it until all your references are in! Oh, hey: straight from OMSAS: "The Confidential Assessment Forms should be received by October 3, 2005. Although failure to meet this deadline does not invalidate your application, Confidential Assessment Forms are required in order for the medical schools to evaluate your file." Thanks for the replies. =)
Guest dayne67
One of my confidential assessment forms came in a week late last year. I talked to OMSAS about it, and they told me that it was not a big deal because Ontario Schools don't start reviewing the applications right aways. It can take a few weeks to a month. Though, try to get your referees to get them in before the October 3rd "deadline" just to be safe and get it out of the way. Frequent email reminders and phone calls are a good idea. Guest rookiemeds
Due to some fairly extenuating circumstances one of my reference letters didn't get to omsas until December! It didn't invalidate my application and I got interviews to all the places I applied. So I would say try to get your references in on time but don't freak out if they're not.
