Guest 24medgirl
Just wondering, what does it mean to be a "mature student". In the NOSM school submission they ask you if you are a "mature student" and I'm wondering what the definition is. I've been out of university and working as a Registered Dietitian for two years - am I classified as a "Mature Student"? Thanks,
Guest malkastate
Applicants who are 25 years of age or older as of October 1 of the application year will be considered Mature Applicants. Mature Applicants are eligible for admission consideration based on the minimum requirement of a 3 year recognized university degree in any discipline with a minimum WGPA of 3.0 on the 4.0 scale this is from the faq on their site-hope it helps. Guest 24medgirl
Thanks Malkastate! Looks like I am a "Mature Student"! I just turned 25 a week ago and have been out of university for 2 years. Does this give me an advantage or disadvantage do you think?
Guest peachy
Ahhh! 25 really doesn't seem old enough to be a "mature student". I vote for 30 instead.

Guest HenryTheBig
I definitely think being a mature student gives you an advantage. Especially at the interview stage. Even at 25 years, I'm sure you have more life experience than the usual 22 or 23 yr old applicant. I'm confident a 25 yr old will most likely answer the questions at least slightly better than the younger ones. Henner
Guest 24medgirl
Thanks Henry. I agree with you there. I probably do have more experience than the average 20 year old, especially since I'm been working as a Clinical Dietitian for 2 years. I've been in a hospital working in the healthcare field 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for 2 years. I see the lack of physicians and the importance of having good physicians in health care facilities. If you're an applicant, good luck! If you're already in congrats! Cia
