US Medical Student with Canadian Citzenship to Canada

Hi all,

I am a Canadian citizen who is currently studying in a U.S. Medical School. As a lot of provinces now take US students with Canadian citizenship in the first iteration match, I assume it may be easier than before to get back into Canada. As my family and girlfriend are all in Canada, I would love to come back.

Does anyone know the procedure as to how I would be able to get a Canadian residency after I graduate from the U.S. (i.e. exams I have to pass, time it would take etc., and links would be helpful as well)? Thanks a million!!

<title>Canadian born citizen in U.S. I want to come back! Help!</title>

<pagetext>Hey guys,

I was born and raised in Calgary until I was 10 and then my parents moved to Houston, Texas where I am currently working on my undergrad in English/Pre-medical. I will apply to some American schools (I have dual-citizenship) but I would really like to come back to Canada. I am a little confused by the residency issue - Will I be considered Canadian or American, and how much does it matter that I have not lived there in the last 10 years? Will my chances at a Canadian med school be very low? Any advice would be great

Sarah

<title>A Japanese doctor wants to work in Canada...</title>

<pagetext>Hi there,

I am a Japanese doctor currently studying a different field in a Canadian University in Ontario.I want to stay in Canada and work as a doctor after I finish my study(not medicine) here.

I know technically it`s possible for a foreign doctor to practice medicine in Canada but I heard (or read articles which say) that it`s really really difficult. How is that so difficult?

Is it really "impossibly" difficult or is there any chance to practice here?My goal is to be able to stay in Canada in the future so I don`t care where I have to do residence or which field....Though I want to become a psychiatrist if possible, family doctor is totally fine with me.

So far I haven`t taken any Evaluating or Qualifying exams.

Do you think it`s possible for me to practice here and how long will it take if possible?Any advice would be great.

Thanks for you help!

(BTW after I graduated in Japan and got MD, I worked for one year as an intern of internal medicine.)
