Guest tuncrypt
I have been reading this board and hearing a lot about Canadians getting into US medical schools. For example, Wayne State University is supposed to be easy to get into, with a lot of Canadians (one post said 20-30 in one class), yet when I look at the new Medical School Admissions Requirement booklet, this year's matriculants are 260 = 231 Resident + 24 Non-Resident + 5 International. Just 5 international... this goes against the aforementioned "easiness" and high number of Canadians, doesn't it? Same thing with New York Medical College, with 186 = 56 Resident + 128 Non-Resident + (only!) 2 International. According to this book, most schools have 0 for international, with those that do only having 2-5, at most 10. So what's the deal?
Guest moo
Some get accepted but don't matriculate. Other schools count Canadians as "out-of-state" whereas others count Canadians as "international."

Guest jaegwon
Usually Canadians are considered non-residents for admissions purposes (but international students for funding purposes). Check out the FAQ on the individual schools websites. Most of the schools in the Northeast address the status of Canadian applicants.
