Guest Linder
Hi! I was wondering if there are any American schools that drop your worst year, the way some of our schools do? (As you might have picked up, I had a bad first year that will hurt my overall AAMCAS GPA). Also, does anyone know if the grade requirements are any lower for private schools than for state schools? Thanks!
Guest BrainDrain
Linder, I am not aware of any US school that drops an applicant's worst year...the GPA that AMCAS calculates on the primary application is the one that schools use to evaluate you. As for private vs. state schools: Usually the state schools have lower grade requirements but you will not benefit from this unless you are a resident of that particular state. Thus, if you are Canadian, it is best to try your luck at private schools. Hope that helps. BrainDrain
