After a reference letter is uploaded to my account, do I send it to AMCAS or do I have to send it to each school that I'm applying to?

I guess my question is does AMCAS handle reference letters like OMSAS does or they don't help you with that?

It would be enormously appreciated if someone tell me which step I have to do myself and which steps I do through AMCAS.

Thankyou ;)

Hi there,

For the US schools, you need to send your different letters to the schools separately. AMCAS does not act as a reference letter clearing house, like OMSAS. The US schools will often require different combinations or numbers of letters. For example, some require at least two letters from science professors, while others request two or three letters from unspecified types of referees.

In short, if you choose to send your letters from ReferenceNow via FedEx (which is what I did, to be able to track their whereabouts), applying to numerous US medical schools becomes a costly initiative.

Cheers,

Kirsteen
