Cost of tuition?

Does anyone know the cost of tuition for the u of c? i skimmed over my package (i just got home to read it tonight) and i didn't see an actual figure. If anyone knows, please post or email me at: eab2@ualberta.ca

<pagetext>I'm feeling uncertain about the bursaries application - do most students apply for them or not? I didn't in undergrad and worked to avoid debt or loans. My family will pitch in for med school, but while we are middle-class, carrying all the tuition,etc. is probably too much for us. If bursaries are meant solely for really low-income kids though...I probably don't qualify. Also there's a bunch of reference letters needed, verifying your state of poverty. Does this happen at all med schools or just UC?

i was asking this question in the u of a forum, but it doesn't seem to get as much traffic as this one... so since it also had to do with u of c, i thought i'd also ask it here...

 

what happens if someone is accepted at the u of c and waitlisted at their first choice school, and then decide to attend the u of c and see if they get off the waitlist? if you quit the u of c at the end of august (one month in!) to start at UBC, U of A... anywhere, really... in September... what happens to that seat? Someone mentioned that this had been done after one week of school... would they find someone else to fill that spot? what about after a month? i'm wondering if that sort of behavior follows you around in the medical community as a big black mark... like a sign that you can't hold a committment...

 

but then again... 3 years in a city you'd rather not be in vs. being where you want to be.... tough choice...

 

does anyone out there think they'd bail on a program that starts in august if they got called off their first choice school's waitlist near september?

 

the reason i'm specifically asking is that i've heard the u of a ends up with 4 or 5 no shows each year (i dunno whether they're OOP or in prov students) and then there's a big move down the list (seeing as a fair amount of students on the list will be happily enrolled elsewhere)... i still have until the beginning of july to worry about getting into u of a, so every bad situation is going through my mind right now...

<pagetext>I was wondering, how does u of c decide who gets an interview? Do they look at your GPA/mcat score, and then give those who qualify an interview? Or, do they look at your GPA and your entire application (essay, extra currics etc) at once, and hten give interviews to those ppl who meet there 'requirements"?
