Housing

I was accepted to Calgary. Being from Ontario I am currently looking for a place to live. There seems to be tons of houses for rent near the hospital with multiple bedrooms. Does anyone know if there is a way I can get in touch with other Calgary med students to see if they too are looking for a place to live - and would like to share. The houses are so cheap when split between a few people...

Thanks

<title>Do I still have a chance?</title>

<pagetext>From the online application process, it says:

"If any term has a total weight exceeding 5.0 there is a good chance you have included too many courses in this term."

For both my first and second years, I have a course weighting of 5.5 (11 courses in each year), so can I technically delete my lowest mark in each of these years? By doing this, I push myself over the 3.5 cutoff.

However, it also says to indicate my ENTIRE academic history. But when I do this, the low marks in each of my years is included in the GPA calculation, it gives me a substandard and technically unacceptable GPA (< 3.5)

Any thoughts? I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm glad they extended the admissions process.

Edited to get rid of the all-captial letters in the Subject: line. Please don't type in all-caps as it's tough to read. Thx! -Ian

If you took 11 courses each year then it makes sense that they would drop your lowest mark. My guess is that you don't have to include your lowest mark for those terms, because they get your transcripts anyways, but I would definitly call to make sure.

The people in admissions should be in a good mood as our class gave them flowers and chocolates today as a thank you for all the hard work they did for us at this time last year.

Jerika - thank you so much.

I think you deserve flowers and chocolates for all your help and assistance.

By the way, I'm a single male who's learning to cook and who also puts the toilet seat down and enjoys long walks along the beach. I'm assuming your female? :)

It's actually a lot of fun to moderate this bored since I was in exactly the same position as you last year. Just like it will be fun when us first years get to interview all (hopefully) of you and then put on an awsome O week for those of you who are accepted. :D

You assumed right, I am a female, and although I'm very impressed with your toilet ettiquite, sadly I am taken:( ...But if you're successful in learning to cook and end up here next year, maybe you can teach me? I am somewhat lacking in this department...

Haha...Yah, I'm taken right now at the moment too, but online flirting never hurts. It's so much ambiguous, but so much more fun!

Anyway, again, thanks for your help Jerika. I hope to see all the other posters and of course the 1st year class whenever they conduct the interviews.

As for now, I can cook "toast", use the microwave well (all types...I learn very fast), boil water...and make a pretty good pasta sauce that all my friends seem to love.
