MCAT

I missed the MCAT cutoff by one lousy point this year...had a 31 instead of a 32. Is it pretty common to have a 32 MCAT cutoff at Queens? I am just wondering if I should bother with an application for next year's cycle or not...thanks

I think you should apply again for sure. As I understand it the cutoffs, gpa and mcat, are determined by the strength of the applicants each year. They adjust the two cutoffs to get approx 400 interviewees. And 32 isn't common, before this year I believe it was 30 for a number of years, many people were surprised how much it went up. They dropped the verbal score needed from 10 to 9, but raised the overall. You never know what it will be next year, especially since you have a good score. good luck,

Thanks md23! Wow, people on this board are just great. I really hope I get into meds so I can pass on great advice to other aspiring physicians, too :)
