Joint MD/MSc

Recommended Posts

I tried to find the previous posts on this, but was unsuccessful. Sorry if I'm re-posting previous threads.

I was wondering what are the benefits (and disadvantages) of doing the MD/MSc program. I am primarily interested in becoming a clinician, although I find research (at my current undergrad level) interesting and enjoyable. How might the program be beneficial for me?

In addition, how would the schedule for someone doing an MD/MSc look like (ie. when do you do your MD courses and when do you do your MSc research/courses?). Calgary's website mentions that a typical MD/MSc lasts 4-5 years, but I couldn't find the actual scheduling.

Thanks in advance for your input.
