Reference Letters

Hi,

So my referees have already sent in their letters, and unfortunately I wasn't paying close attention to the stipulation about two of the referees being employers or professors who have worked/taught in the past 3 years.

The application says "should".

Obviously I wouldn't be posting this if two of my referees met this requirement. One of them does, but my question is (and I will phone the admissions office on Monday), how screwed am I? It's too late to get other letters of reference...

I think you should call the office to make sure, they are really nice, and you still have some time,...but if I were to guess i would say the weight of your letters will depend on your current situation. If you are currently in school then yeah they probably want current professors etc,..anyways goodluck, but don't be afraid to call, I found them really helpful when I had a question.

Hi,

One thing that you have to keep in mind is how distant a relationship that there is. If it was a prof of 3 years ago and you haven't seen them since and you were just in an auditorium class, then be a little scared. But maybe you chose that prof because they know you a lot better than any of the professors that you currently have- did your undergrad thesis with them or something... It is always better to have a reference that clearly knows you and is not sending a standard letter with you name typed in on the line:eek: so i wouldn't panic.

The big question is why did you choose that person?

Good luck and see you at interview time :)
