Kiel
At McMaster there is a course called Health Psychology. Would this satisfy the social science/humanties pre-req? thanks for your time!
MDHopefully2005
What faculty does it post the course under? That will help you decide if it is considered social science...but I'm sure it's not humanities.....you can also call Mac and simply ask them if they consider it social science/humanities for the purpose of applications
blinknoodle
Actually, McMaster wouldn't know whether its course is social science.. that would depend on the medical school. Some medical schools consider psychology as a science, whereas others consider it a social science, and others consider it whatever the home university deems it. Because it has the word "health" in it, some schools are more apt to consider it science (ie. UWO in the past). If you cannot take any other humanities/social science course that are less controversial (good old English, etc), I suggest contacting the medical schools you need it for application purposes. PS. There are two different health psychology courses at Mac (one in kin and one in health sci) so be prepared to submit your course syllabus when you approach medical schools about it whether it would be a sufficient pre-req. Kiel
It's under kinesiology courses...so I'm guessing that's science
bioboy2007
It's under kinesiology courses...so I'm guessing that's science If this is the case, you likely will be unable to use it to satisfy the humanities/social sciences pre-req. Smurfette
I didn't realize there were pre-reqs ! oops There are no pre-req's required for admission to Mac's med program. The question was whether the health psych course at Mac would satisfy humanities/social science pre-req's at other schools that require them (eg. Queen's).
