Raising GPA.... Is a 5th year of undergrad a good option?

Hello,

I am a fourth year student at UBC hoping to attend UBC's medical school. My GPA is not at the competitive level and I was just wondering if you thought it would be wise to do a complete 5th year with 10 courses to bring up my GPA. If my GPA now is only a 3.0, is it worth the time and money doing a 5th year? I'd appreciate any advice!!!!:) [/b]

At UBC, they look at your overall average (not GPA - percentage average), last two years average, and your prerequisite average.

If you are in your fourth year right now, I'm not sure how much a straight A+ 5th year (even with a full courseload) can raise your overall GPA. However, an excellent 5th year can definitely boost your last two years average, and even your prerequisite average if you still have some prerequisites left. To start, calculate your percentage average - it might be higher than your GPA.
