AndyDude
OK so I think this semester won't go awesome because I have had 2 surgeries in a span of 3 weeks and awaiting one right during the exam period. So when applying to Med schools or perhaps during the interview (If I ever get it), would my story make any difference i.e. do they give damn that I was fully screwed during the entire semester and the exams and hence did poorly. PS: I can't drop the semester because I think I have done the majority of hard work for most of the courses. ~Trying to save the semester and health~
Kiel
Did you include this in your application? I believe there is a special section for 'other information'. I don't think it would be that great to bring up during an interview though(somebody correct me if I'm wrong) since it may seem like an excuse(not that I'm accusing you). good luck! Darla
My second hand info from a friend who appended their application this semester with a letter from med services: both Queens and Mac told her the letter didn't matter. Only her transcript would be considered It's gossip though, I can't really point to a source for you. Could you defer finals to get caught up? Good Luck!! That's a rough thing to be going through while you're a full time student.

For most schools, if you don't have the GPA you won't get an interview, so you need to be protect your GPA. pb

If you get some bad marks, that can really hurt your GPA, and for most schools... there's really no excuse for that.
crackers
There used to be a tick box on the OMSAS application for "is there anything that happened during your school where your performance was affected?" don't know if it still exists, but surgery would definitely qualify. dogeatdog12
knowing from experience first hand with a family member, most schools do not consider medical reasons into their admissions. While they encourage students to disclose such past experiences, they rarely count. While I don't advocate one way or the other, I am just pointing out the reality. Darkfalz
i agree with the defer suggestions... I tested positive for mono right as exams started in my third year, and the grades from that semester are not pretty. Looking back, I wish I would have deferred. Sure it would mean studying more/harder later on in the year, but at least I could have gone into them without being on the verge of passing out.
