Good english course to improve in WS

Can anyone suggest english course UoT which will help in WS (MCAT)......

i would take the english course to satisfy prereqs or for your own general interest, not simply to increase your WS score. there is a very specific formula you can use to do very well on the WS (princeton review).

doing well also requires you to have a fairly good base of examples that you can apply to various different prompts. (e.g., couple of examples on education, democracy, revolutions etc.)

A writing course? ENG100?

But honestly, I don't think there is any course that would really help with WS directly. I don't think there is any one set way to write the WS.

I think writing skills come more or less naturally throughout your undergrad years. But you would need to come up with ways of thinking logically from one point to the next, developing arguments and counterarguments in between. I think that skill is more valuable.

I think it's much more important to have good points for WS than to improve your writing. If you have good, valid, points and can generally express them clearly (don't have to be eloquent or anything), you should be able to get a O or P at least. If you want a better score, then you can brush up on the writing, but generally it's also a draw of luck based on what prompt you get. You can be the world's best writer and still get a M for invalid points.

I completely agree Destiny.

I didn't spend any time making "example banks" or reading the Times, etc. and also didn't focus on the examples aspect during the writing sample.

It's all about the arguement, which you remember your high school teachers telling you as well. Be sure to follow the formula proposed by Kaplan, Princeton very closely, and explain your thoughts well - being sure that it flows nicely from point to point.

Another hint - don't use big words that you have to think about - use whatever feels right - make sure you spell the words correctly and minimize grammar errors.
