Discrimination at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine

YeshivaVictim

Several students and faculty have a horrible experience at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine-- Like the case of the graduate student who broke up with his professor and was dismissed for "academic issues." Or the nationally published, howard hughes fellow who was dismissed because he was gay.

Many of their cases have gone to to litigation and been settled for multi-millions of dollars, yet the problems at the school continue.

Hey,

Interesting. Obviously a very biased flick, but makes me wonder what the real story is nonetheless.

I guess it just goes to show that in the US, there are good medical schools and there are bad ones, so you have to be really careful when choosing your institution. Fortunately, we don't seem to have that disparity/problem here in Canada.

I went to the website and sifted through the press gallery. I didn't find any links to any major news sites that worked. I would imagine that if this were as big a deal and as widespread as the video/website seems to suggest that it would be all over the American news stations. There was one link to the Washington Blade, which I've never heard of, but it looked credible. There was a note in this article that a gay student was suing the university, but it didn't give a lot of details. Certainly not enough to make any inferences or conclusions about the case.

Therefore, I would agree tthat one ought to take the accusations on the video/website with a grain of salt. There is undoubtedly a strong bias here.

Having said that - I think it's important to realize that there are some ugly things out there, even at our Canadian universities. However, I doubt that these instances are found in as blatant, as broad, and as widespread in scope as the video suggests.
