Axolotl
Hey Guys, I read an interesting article today about the troubles that the students are having in Quebec during their clerkship (3rd & 4th years). I thought I'd post it to try to stir up some discussion, looks like the board has been stale for awhile. I'm glad that the specialists in northern Ontario are willing to go out of their way to ensure that the students at NOSM have access to quality clinical experiences. http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news/montreal/story.html?id=6804c5e8-51f4-423b-83f3-a1aba3257396&k=7903

Axolotl
To be honest, I don't venture into the premed forum. I would be more interested in hearing the opinions from the regulars who post in this forum anyways.
NurseNathalie
I'm glad you posted it here too... since I also had not seen it in the other forum ... Although it doesn't directly affect me right now, I think it has a lot of implication for our future as medical students... what if something like that happened here? do we have some type of contigency plan in place for such things? who's responsible for ensuring that we can complete our studies 'as planned'- and who foots the bill if they can't let you graduate and have to repeat the year? scary! I was a little dissapointed to see that the Carms match has only been set back by 2 days... I would have tought they should perhaps give the medical students in Quebec a bit more of a fair advantage in the match! mind you- my knowledge/experience about the whole carms process is primitive at best... but that will come soon enough since I'm already in clerkship.
