after bachelor's degree but before med school ???

From ubc's statisitcs, it seems that most people get into med when they are 23 years old, but a person usually finishes a bachelor's degree by 21, so what do they do between 21-23. Do they work and apply to med at the same time, or do they just stay in university to study something else and wait till they get admitted into med school ? i'm just curious...

<pagetext>Hi I am planning on taking organic chem in the summer for the first time, I just wanted to get it over with in the spring term of my first year as opposed to taking it in the fall and winter terms for my second university year

I heard that some med schools don't consider courses taken in the summer. If organic chem is a prerequisite, does that mean that I'm in trouble? should I take it in my second year instead?
