dranseth
I'm wondering how many of you have taken pre req's in the summer. Have any of you taken more than one pre req as a summer course? Is there any downside to taking courses in the summer?
Madz25
No downside as far as I know. At many schools it wont be included in the GPA calculation but thats usually the motivation for doing summer courses lol...
webshy
The biggest down side of taking courses in the summer is that you don't get a break from school. When I first attended university (in 1995), I didn't give myself that break, and my marks suffered as a result. Also, if you are planning on preparing to write the MCAT while working, taking additional classes might be difficult (says the girl who worked full time, went to school full time and wrote the MCAT). One other thing - if you do decide to take summer classes, still strongly consider taking a full course load during the school year (5.0 classes). Doing so will keep all of your options option. webshy
elaine how did u work full time and study full time? I dont get it I am working as a paramedic supervisor in Toronto. I am also a full time student at the University of Waterloo (6 courses). During the fall term, I've had 2 on campus courses, both on Wednesdays, and 4 distance education courses. During the winter term, I have 5 on campus courses, on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 1 distance education course. I have used all of my vacation time to attend classes. In addition, I work part time for Centennial College. I fit that work in between my shifts with Toronto EMS and my classes. I'm very busy; however, not working isn't a financial option at this point. I am enjoying school too much to give it up! Plus, I need another year of full time studies in order to apply to Western. Elaine
