American vs. Canadian DAT

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I know that the American DAT tests the following:

1. Survey of Natural Sciences (biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry)

2. Perceptual Ability Test

3. Reading Comprehension

4. Quantitative Reasoning

While the Canadian DAT includes:

1. Carving Dexterity Test

2. Survey of Natural Sciences Test (biology, general chemistry)

3. Perceptual Ability Test

4. Reading Comprehension

I'm planning to take the Canadian DAT. Does this mean that, say if I'm studying from Kaplan, I don't need to read the "Organic chem" and "Quantitative Reasoning" sections at all?

And are the sections tested by both the Canadian and American DAT the same?

I was wondering the exact same thing! no one has really answered yet... and i found this thread through search.

my guess is no, we don't have to know orgo or quantitative. hopefully.

also, this might sound like a dumb question but... is the test on a computer or on paper?

You DEFINITELY do not need to know Quantitative or Organic Chem for the Canadian DAT. I have taken both. There is no organic questions or quantitative on the Canadian DAT. I read the blue Kaplan book also and just skipped those sections when studying for the Canadian version.
