mrsweasley
Hey guys, I was just looking at UWO's admissions stats (http://www.schulich.uwo.ca/dentistry/docs/Statistics-Class2011.htm) and I have a few questions... Do you they look at OMSAS GPA or just numerical average? What about U of T? I mean on the U of T website it says to be considered competitive you need "80% average or 3.7 GPA" but those are 2 TOTALLY different things... at least for me my cumulative GPA is lower than 3.7 but my cumulative average is over 85. Also, do they look at extracurriculars/volunteer work as specifically as med schools do? I mean, I know it's great to be well rounded and I have been in my life so far, but is as much emphasis put on it or is it mainly just grades and DAT that get you in? What's considered a "good" DAT score? 20 in each section? Is the DAT a scaled test? Ahhh I know it's a lot of questions, but I tried looking on all the school's websites and they're sooo vague. HELP! koft
I am guessing you are not form UT.. a 4.0 avg on UT is 85 and above. so 3.7 -> 80% UWO looks at numerical average, as far as i know. unless your school only give letter grade. ________ Dodge slingshot specifications
mrsweasley
At my school the grade of 85 is 3.9, but in my cumulative average I have a few 70s balanced out with 90s so the way the cGPA is calculated really brings it down. So... whatever, guess I'm screwed.
daryn
When I was filling out my U of T application, their instructions for putting in the GPA (VERY ANNOYING by the way) included the OMSAS calculation. i.e. I calculated my GPA the way OMSAS does, not the way ROSI does. AllSmiles
Yah...the UT application was a pain (I mean why pay that much for an application when they will probably be doing all the calculations over again anyways...)...I loved the Western application though...so nice!
