JimGray
I deferred one of my exams. Now I believe, the grade for this course will show up as "deferred grade" Does this have any impact/effect/bearing on my med school chances?
Blackkeys
Usually if you defer an exam, the DEF notation is replaced with your grade once you finally write the exam. Shouldn't be permanent.

JimGray
so deferral has absolutely no negative impact on my overall application?
Blackkeys
I once spent part of the duration of what was supposed to be an exam period with my head in the toilet. I had to defer the two exams that I had left (out of five). After I wrote those two exams some months later (and to no benefit, 'cause I had to write them when I had significantly less time for studying) the DEF thing disappeared from my transcripts forever. DEFs, at my school at least, are the notation used for people who are excused from exams because they're sick or get hit by a bus or whatever. So of course, they have no negative impact, because it would be unfair if they did. Hope that helps !
