I searched for discussion on this particular topic, but did not come across it...ill post it here but if some1 knows where it was previously covered feel free to direct me to it.

My first 2 years of university were not terrible, but they were below (< 3.0) what most med schools consider as cutoff. Im in my 3rd year now and bringing my grades up to well over 3. Does anybody know of any schools that look at your most recent years of study (3 and 4) solely or weight these heavier. I know of Queens and Western in Canada, but to my knowledge ive heard US schools use your cumulative GPA...is this correct; and if so does any1 know of schools worldwide that use this 2yr weighting system?

I'm in kind of the same boat as you except my first year was okay. do some research on U of A as well. I know U of T lets you drop a set number of courses if you have been taking full course load throughout. If you have a 3.7 this year then you can look at Western. Do some research on these universities and you'll find some hope. I know i did :) I have no idea about international schools. Hope that helps. :)

Dalhousie wants last 2 full time year GPA to be over 3.7 for out of province. Manitoba will also drop lowest credits based on how many you've already completed. This can REALLY boost your GPA. Ottawa weighs upper years more heavily than lower years.

Yes, US schools look at ALL post-secondary grades. They also look specifically at science GPA (bio, chem, phys, math).
