green knapsacks

People wearing green knapsacks who I see wandering in Med Sci at U of T are med students right? Do all med students get a specialized knapsack, or is it just U of T med students?

Do you know what the color will be next year? :D

I beleive all medical students in Canada who started medical school this year got the green backpacks. The color combination (and perhaps even the styles of the backpacks, although they have been the same style for the past three years) is unique to each academic year.

From what I hear, this is the first year that they went away from the traditional blue theme.

Yup, all first years across Canada get those. It was cool - I took mine to India with me and on the flight back I met two med students from UBC! They recognized my bag! ....ok well I thought it was cool lol

The backpacks are a gift from MD management, one of the banking group that will be after you once you get in med school... It's all part of the great competition for who will get to finance your education & collect the interest! They are pretty well designed & quite useful for spotting eachother, the downside being that we accidently pick up the wrong one from time to time :P

Edit : hum... of course our bags are still new, maybe the straps will also rip eventually... meds'10 are still wearing them though...

not everyone wears them though. While the majority in my class do, there are still a fair number of people who aren't marked.

UBC was good...the first term was intended to get everyone to the same level science-wise. There were tough times, but nothing absolutely ridiculous. I like the program and the city so far. I think the work will get tougher after the break because we are moving forward into the different systems.
