UBC, UT, Queen's, or York??

I can't decide which university to go to. I live in BC but the posts about how UBC gives little support to students kinda scare me. I would be happy anywhere as long as I can get a good GPA (if I work hard of course) and a good education (good resources and research opportunities). So please tell me the pros and cons to each of them.

Also my ultimate goal is to become an oncologist so any good undergrad program recommendations?

Thanks a lot to who ever replies!:)

given the reputation of schools does not matter (as previously pointed out by many???), York all the way :)

It really doesn't matter. I'd personally base it on:

1) Which school offers your preferred program.

2) Which school is the cheapest for you to attend (offers you the best scholarships, financial assistance, prices for board, etc).

thanks to all of you that replied!

Would anyone recommend the Biomedical Science program at York?

And why does McLean's gives York such as bad rankings?

And do you guys think it's worth it to go to York or should I just go to SFU or Uvic in BC in terms of a smaller university.

Thanks!

If you live in BC why did you apply to so many ontario universities?

If you plan on doing biomedical sciences at York, it's not worth it. Stay in BC and go to a smaller university (if you prefer a smaller uni atmosphere) and do a science degree there instead of coming all the way over to Ontario to go to a school that isn't really respected in terms of the sciences. If reputation is important, then again to keep your costs down go to UBC, which is a very prestigious school with respect to the sciences. If you're dying to move away, and school rep is important then go to McGill.

If you are thinking of choosing a school based purely on reputation, I do not recommend this. Choose a school that has strengths in what you're interesting in study, that won't cost you an arm and a leg and in an environment that you feel most comfortable in, seeing that you're going to spend 4 years there. Remember it doesn't matter where you get your degree, so choose a school that best suits your needs and goals.

good luck
