Pre-requisites need to be completed before applying, or before entering?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I've been having a hard time deciphering whether we need to be done all the prerequisites for a given school before we plan to apply, or whether they must be done prior to matriculation?

For example, can I complete a biochemistry prerequisite in a summer course preceding entrance to a school if I was given a conditional acceptance? I was hoping you guys could let me know the policies regarding this from the various medical schools.

Thanks in advance

Maybe it differs from school to school? For Ottawa, Jochi's right. You can complete them during the school yr during which you applied, but you can't just register for them & do them after you get an acceptance letter (when I applied, they needed proof of enrollement before offering interviews).

Yeah, U of A (one school with lots of pre-reqs) wanted my fall and spring registration before they reviewed my file.

I am probably wrong, but didn't UBC state in regards to the english course pre-req that it must be obtained before application? Or was this just something that they were debating on implementing in the future?

I think they've considered it... but from their website:

Applicants applying in October 2007 for entrance in September 2008 must have completed 90 credits and the required prerequisite courses (or equivalents) by April 30, 2008.

UPDATED October 1, 2007: For the 2008-2009 application cycle, all prerequisite courses and 90 minimum credits must be completed by April 30, 2009.
