so I am in grade 12 and i have my chem and physics exams tomorrow. I studied a total of 38 minutes. Wow I am screwed for university. For the future, how do you all study. I just cant seem to sit down for longer than a half an hour. I do well in school, but I know that is just because highschool is fairly easy compared to university. So, how can I sit down and study?

Getting straight F's and C-'s will teach you a lesson.

2 cents worth :

1) Maybe if you already know the stuff relatively well (you must if you get good grades), it demotivates you to study more. If you didn't get it and wanted to learn more, maybe you'd be able to?

2) If the problem is attention spam, that's something you can work on/with. It should increase with time & perseverance, and until then, you can just take short breaks every half hour and get back to it. Everyone needs breaks once in a while and it won't keep you from med school unless you take 2hr breaks every half hour:p

3) The fact that you're aware of this before entering university might actually be of help! If you still find you can't put in enough hours when you get to harder classes, immediately go to student services & try to get help from a councellor, before you fall far behind (you could always do this now if you'd like to increase your high school marks too...). With help you should be able to avoid the (common!) bad 1rst yr GPA that can result from such transition problems.

Good luck!

Hey teendoc... here's my 2% of a dollar.

Study with keeners. Make checklists (for even the smallest most insignificant milestones of studying). Buy cool stationary to make you want to take notes. Spend more time around premedical students who talk about nothing but GPAs :P And Give yourself a break (!!) - as everyone else said, you'll figure this out with experience.

Good luck :)

Nobody "loves" to study. It's something that, at least for me, have to just do. One thing for me that works is to study for 1 hour or so, than get up to get a drink, go to the bathroom, etc. If I study for say 6 hours straight, I find that the information is not absorbed.

Hope this helps and good luck on your exams!:)

INPUT/OUTPUT?

just my two cents: what works for moe doesn't mean it'll work for larry and just imagine what it would do to curly!
