How many people here wrote the MCAT more than once?

Recommended Posts

I am just curious cuz well with western's cutoff this year I figured that my chances of getting into any school this yr is not looking too good so I guess I will have to rewrite the MCAT ... total bummer

just wondering how many wrote it more than once and how many actually studied on their own the 2nd time or did a kaplan course

did u find it easier writing the second time? mind u I wrote mine last summer so yeh

I wrote it for the first time in 2004, and again a second time last summer. On both occasions, I used ExamKracker's study books, but this last time I also used the practice exams available at e-mcat.com. I really appreciated the online tests - I found they helped a lot, and would highly recommend them if you're going to take the test again.

I wrote once in Aug 2005 and then again in Aug 2006. (both noncomputerized)

I studied on my own for both (too cheap for MCAT course).

I recommend you to practice the past exams as much as possible. (not to learn the material but to see how fast you can write the exam).

hey, i have written it 3 times, once august 2006 (paper MCAT) and twice this past summer (computerized) 2 weeks apart. I did the whole Kaplan course the first summer and just the online kaplan stuff the 2nd time around. I met western's cutoff the 2nd time but not the 3rd. I suggest u take an online course cuz those tests help alot, and probly goes without saying for most people but wait for your score to come out before you take another one even if u think u did bad, cuz western and toronto take your most recent score

good luck

I've only written it once so far. I took the Kaplan course and found it to be extremely helpful (but quite pricey).

I'm probably going to have to write that nightmare again, to pull up my physical mark. It's the physics that kills me. If I'm a doc and treating patients, never, EVER am I going to have to calculate the speed at which a rock thrown up in the air will hit the ground. ARGH!!

I wrote it twice and taught myself both times (the courses are too expensive and I feel not really worth the money). I used the Kaplan and Princeton books which I ordered online as well as examkrackers.

1) 10 PS, 7VR, 10BS Q

2) 10 PS, 10VR, 14BS R

Went from a 27Q to a 34R, I found the second time around I was much more calm and at ease. I already knew all of the formalities and wasnt as distracted by the people around me. Both of my attempts were in paper form written in Aug 05 and 06.

True, but that is not the purpose of the MCAT.

I wrote the MCATs for the first time in August 2006 (paper version) and again in August 2007 (computer version). I took the Princeton course the first time around. Although the books were helpful, the course was definitely not worth the money. I found the computer version to be easier than the paper version, mostly because it lasted 5 hours rather than 8.

Sweetiepie, I was wondering how you improved your verbal by such a large jump? Did you use the methods from examkrackers, or something else?

Thanks!

How about your bio improvement?

I went 11,11,9 R in 2006

Now with Western's cutoffs I really want to get my bio to the 11 mark...

Any tips? I was consistently scoring 10's on aamc tests and then got a very tricky section with no physiology on the real thing..... just wondered if you would credit anything responsible for the 4 pt bio jump
