webshy
Looking for something thorough and fairly recent to learn about the pros, cons, and upcoming issues of our system. Anyone have any recommendations? While they are now a few years old, both the Kirby Report and the Romanow Report provide a good deal of information on the Canadian health care system. Here is a link for the Kirby Report: http://www.parl.gc.ca/37/2/parlbus/commbus/senate/com-e/soci-e/rep-e/repfinnov03-e.htm Here is a link for the Romanow Report: http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/english/care/romanow/hcc0023.html While this report is extremely long, the Executive Summary provides a good summation of the information in the report. peachy
If you really want to burn yourself out, try Shah's "Public Health and Preventative Medicine in Canada". (That's the text for the Community Health course at U of T). Health Systems in Transition: Canada is also an interesting read and it's available free online: http://www.euro.who.int/Document/E87954.pdf
Guest begaster
Haha, my sister's actually bringing that over for me. But to voluntarily read a textbook... I dunno.

NorthernDude
I'm reading an interesting book right now about Medicare. It's a bunch of essays by famous Canadians, health care policy people, & academics about the importance of Medicare. http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/Medicare-Facts-Myths-Problems-Promise-Bruce-Campbell-Greg-Marchildon/9781552770009-item.html?ref=Books%3a+Search+Top+Sellers
