human instinct
Hey, Ok so i was wondering which of the two referees would be better: A. Physiology (300 level) course: got 90% in course but dont know the prof at all so he would have to totally base his letter on my grade and perhaps my statement/resume. B. Organic Chemistry (200 level): low A (80%) in course but prof knows me as i stayed in help sessions, answered questions during class AND my grade improved from a B to an A and my prof knows and complemented me on this improvement. While B seems an ok option, what would one choose if this was their only academic LOR (rest being research LORs)? Suggestions?
Jochi1543
I would go with B.
Orchid
If the rest are indeed research LORs, I'd definitely go with be. Those show academic excellence already... no need to worry about going with A for higher mark but less known about you as person. Just stick with B. joey
B !!! It's better to have a Ref that can give solid examples of qualities instead of just a boring non-personal letter. I've had my (awesome - might I add) supervisor tell me this many times! G'luck w/ everything !
