eastcoastgal
Hey Guys, Thought this was a good thing for all of us applying this year. The U of M is apparently adding 10 more seats to the med 1 class as of Sept 2008. Hopefully it actually happens! http://www.winnipegsun.com/News/Manitoba/2008/02/04/4825522.html

Kuantum
That's good to hear. We could all use more docs. If they plan on continually adding more, I wonder if the current buildings can accomodate that?

Sad to say based on those stats that 4 of 10 people admitted in those new seats will actually stay in the province.
Jag
They have modified the classrooms to add additional seats. They have not however increased specialty residency spots so they are attempting to funnel the extra students into family practice. They will also not hire more teachers for for various areas such as gross labs (in fact there will be less teachers than ever) or expand the number of rotations thus creating a diluted educational experience.
