dizzle
hey guys, i've been stalking for a while... and finally decided to register / post lol. anyway... according to OMSAS, UWO had 2300 applicants this year for 147 positions. does anybody know / could estimate / guess at how many of these applicants were given interviews? it just slightly confuses me, that if cut-offs = interview (maybe), then there would be an obscene number of interviews given... or is it that some hopeful applicants with near cutoffs take a gamble when they apply? Jamie
Well, Western doesn't post the cut-offs until late january. So when you apply (in September) there is always a chance you will make the cut offs since you don't know what they are. For example the cutoffs for last year was 10/10/10 but for this year bio increased to 11. So people who applied with a 10 in bio probably thought they would get an interview, but then they jacked it up to an 11. So there are always people who apply thinking they have a chance based on the stats from the previous year.
blinknoodle
UWO usually aims for ~450 interviews. This smaller pool is achieved by the cut-offs, which not everyone meets.
chino
On that note, any idea of how many people are interviewing or is that not revealed till after interviews?
Gob
Again, its about 450 every year.
