verbally_abused
I used the "search" function quickly but didn't find anything on it. how many medical students actually do research?
rogerroger
UWO reports 50% of those admitted. With that said, if you hate research you probably shouldn't do it. There are others ways to impress the adcoms.

I suppose I just wanted to know if they continue doing research.
Darla
yea, thanks Jochi, Obviously there are a lot of people with research experience going into medical school. I suppose I just wanted to know if they continue doing research. It seems to me that those who are predisposed to research continue it beginning in September of their admittance. Others do summer research over their first two years. Whether or not we do research depends on the students' interest and the competitive nature of the field they want to go into (i.e. research may be strongly encouraged when trying to do a CaRMS match in their desired field). bayervillager
At Queen's, we have to do research during medical school. It's usually the summer after second year, and termed a "Critical Inquiry Elective".
