Intl Student: Year1 elective in Canada

I would do a bit of research by going to each medical school's website and looking at what availability there is for international medical school students to do electives.

 

Often Canadian schools don`t have availability for international students unfortunately. (it's even hard for us to get electives in some places!)

 

Doing a year 1 elective would not affect your ability to secure a 4th year elective.

 

In terms of practicing in Canada...you could look at the carms.ca website to look at how you go about applying to do your residency in Canada as an IMG as that is something you probably want to consider also.
