Trauma elective?

What's the "Golden Hour"?

The desired maximum amount of time for a trauma patient to be in the OR, after the trauma occurs. That is, the hour starts at the time of injury, not upon arrival at the hospital. For patients who can reach the OR within one hour, the chance of survival is significantly increased.

Apparently there's never been a study that proves this 'golden hour', although the general concept that trauma patients need surgical intervention sooner rather than later is still true.
