Bobert
Hey all. I have a quick question about residency status. Is it possible to qualify as an in-province resident in 2 different provinces? I think I satisfy both requirements for BC and Alberta but do they make you choose one way or the other? I mean, its it possible to say you're a BC resident to UBC and an Albertan to UofA and UofC? It kinda feels like they would discourage that or something... I don't know... any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
avenir001
ya if u meet both criteria, you can be ip at both.
Madz25
I thought you were required to use only one residency status for all med applications?? I know Dalhousie specified that...maybe it's different for other schools.
avenir001
well, for eg. ubc considers you ip if you were born in bc and lived here for a few years when you were young or if you went to high school here...if you then did your undergrad in another province, you could be ip there as well...i've heard of ppl doing this..i dont think it's considered cheating hmmm... Jochi1543
I've definitely heard of it being done specifically for BC/AB.
tooty
I got dual resident status at AB and ON.
human instinct
I got dual resident status at AB and ON. AB is ok but is there an advantage to being ON resident? Dont all ON schools give equal preference to IP and OOP applicants?
rocky222
Since the other schools won't see your application they have know way in knowing whether you are considered an in-province elsewhere. Only exception is in Ontario where all six schools will see the same information because of the centralized application.
tooty
AB is ok but is there an advantage to being ON resident? Dont all ON schools give equal preference to IP and OOP applicants? The only ON school that I applied to is Ottawa, which has a higher cutoff for oop applicants vs. ip applicants. But I would have made the oop cutoff anyway
