Mei_Mei_girl
Hello again! Just thinking of studying at NOSM makes me happy. Im getting excited for the possibility, but its also quite nerve-wracking thinking I might get crushed with a rejection . Any thoughts by anyone else out there who is waiting to hear from NOSM May 15th? My dear father passed away in Northern Ontario from an underserviced health care (didn't see specialist in time) and I see NOSM as a hope for the North. Looking forward to anyone else who wants to share their thoughts on the anticipation of May 15th!
Dr. Nick Riviera
Im getting excited for the possibility, but its also quite nerve-wracking thinking I might get crushed with a rejection . Any thoughts by anyone else out there who is waiting to hear from NOSM May 15th? Not to be a downer, but I was quite disappointed last year, and think it's much better just to assume you won't get in only to be hopefully pleasantly surprised. 400 interviews 56 spots available looking at last year's waitlist thread it seemed to go about 19 spots deep So around the top 80 (of 400) might have a decent shot at getting in I'd like to think I'd be in the top 20% of people interviewed, but I've mentally prepared for otherwise. I'm trying to see my chances I'm from North Eastern Ontario which isn't considered "northern" for NOSM so I'm just an average rural person lol
amixofmisfit
Hey Mater! I am not sure how NOSM evaluates my geographical status. I'm assuming I'm considered rural as I lived most of my life in NL in a small community of around 800 people. Thus, if I can get wait-listed as a non-NO resident then you can too Or better yet accepted.
steelie
Does anyone know how the successful applicants will hear via snail mail? I am assuming that the successful and nonsuccessful applicants will receive letters by the 15th, as well as an email in the morning of the 15th. Last year I received a letter on the morning of the 14th indicating I was unsuccessful. I am from Thunder Bay, so my mail arrived early. Apparently mail is sent out on the 14th? and the local residents receive these letters on the 14th? (which surprised me last year). Also, do the successful applicants receive a BIG package, or is the letter the same size as the conventional unsuccessful letters? Can anyone help me out? Thx. RDtoMD
I was living in Sudbury when I received my letter (on May 14th). Many others however found out first by email on the 15th, then letter/package following. I only had a regular small envelope, but this was because I was on the wait list. Once I was in, then received the larger package. I believe those who are in right away receive a large package. So...just 'cause it's a small letter doesn't mean you didn't get in! Good luck to all...I know the wait has been tough!

Superking25
I hope some people receive good news snail mails today and let us OOP applicants know about it I hope they send out emails in the morning, as I want to wake up in BC (like Christmas, I'll probably be waking up WAY too early ) and already have my results... *sigh*
DoctorSoccer
I live in Sudbury and did not get it in my snail mail I guess they realised that people got it early last year...
Superking25
Yeah, I had a feeling that they would switch it up to mailing on the 15th once they heard about it. Oh well, it will take some time to reach BC anyway. Now we can all celebrate together I hope they email all at once, and not spread out over time
