Interviews with a <9 on an MCAT section

Recommended Posts

its common sense. Unless you have a KILLER application, rediculous ECs and tremendous reference letters, your best bet is to maximize your potential through rewriting your MCAT.

There arent many individuals that can get away with an <=8 in any section. Those that do are likely to have the most competitive application to compensate for a less than optimal MCAT.

But they were not aware of my application details and yet they told me I MUST rewrite. I have wt undergrad GPA from UT 3.91, lots of ECs including international volunteerism and research experience with a publication.

they probably told you that because 99% of people with an 8 would be rejected. And why put yourself into a disadvantaged position right off the bat? It is already very competitive. Might as well have as strong a set of stats as possible.

Hi everyone,

I was told the MCAT cutoff is just used as a flag at UT in determining who gets interviews, but they may be very strict about it this year. I was just wondering if anyone who received an interview offer, got less than 9 in any category of the MCAT? Thanks

Well, you have an 8 in VR. Rewrite only if you are confident you will improve (ie. judge from your practice scores). Keep in mind that there is a chance that your VR score might decrease.
