1234
its common sense. Unless you have a KILLER application, rediculous ECs and tremendous reference letters, your best bet is to maximize your potential through rewriting your MCAT. There arent many individuals that can get away with an <=8 in any section. Those that do are likely to have the most competitive application to compensate for a less than optimal MCAT. cesium29
But they were not aware of my application details and yet they told me I MUST rewrite. I have wt undergrad GPA from UT 3.91, lots of ECs including international volunteerism and research experience with a publication.
lostintime
Well you're out of luck for Queens and Western with those scores, and at a disadvantage for UT...so why not just rewrite?

And why put yourself into a disadvantaged position right off the bat? It is already very competitive. Might as well have as strong a set of stats as possible. esquilax
Plus a lot of people applying to UT have GPAs greater than 3.91. I would recommend rewriting it so that you don't unnecessarily handicap yourself and also it'll give you a shot at the other Ontario schools with strict MCAT cutoffs. human instinct
does anyone know the avg. UT gpa stats for the last cycle?
esquilax
They have admission statistics on their website, which I'm too lazy to look up right now. From what I remember, last year's average GPA was 3.9 and a couple of years ago it was around 3.87.
futuredoc
Actually I think it was 3.87 last year. Let us hope it never reaches 3.90.
Geraldw
People have gotten U of T interviews with an M on the writing sample and 8s in VR

mcpherv
Was last year double cohort or was that the year before? Last year was the double cohort year - hopefully the cutoffs/averages around Ontario start going back down a bit soon.
miss.spoken
I had an interview this year at U of T with an 8 in PS.
Charlatan
Hi everyone, I was told the MCAT cutoff is just used as a flag at UT in determining who gets interviews, but they may be very strict about it this year. I was just wondering if anyone who received an interview offer, got less than 9 in any category of the MCAT? Thanks Well, you have an 8 in VR. Rewrite only if you are confident you will improve (ie. judge from your practice scores). Keep in mind that there is a chance that your VR score might decrease.
