kristina1085
this might be a dumb question, but i have no clue! i'm finishing my second year and am planning on writing the mcats in two years, and i have no idea if i should be keeping any of my basic texts (physics, chemistry, bio) to study for my mcats. are they useful to keep when relearning things, or do you just use prepared texts from mcat prep courses? did you use your earlier undergrad texts in your studying? Jamer
You won't need them. Even if you wanted to look something up (which wasn't necessary with my kaplan books), Wikipedia is god.

dan0105
Ya wikipedia answers everything. But I did like my first year chem book for the old acid/base stuff etc.
Asclepius
Anything that is not in the Kaplan or PR books is probably overkill. I had my old textbooks when I wrote and I think I looked at my chem text once, but it wasn't really necessary. Then again I had just taken most of the courses so the material was pretty fresh. g0921
When you say "Kaplan or PR books" do you mean the Kaplan Premier Program and Cracking the MCAT CBT? Or do you mean the ones they give you in the course? I'm not taking the course so I'm planning on buying the Premier program or the Cracking but do they give you the adequate amount of background knowledge that you need? BCBoy
I didn't find it necessary to keep my basic science textbooks to study for the MCAT. There's so much to go through in those Kaplan/Princeton review books anyway, and it's probably more than enough.
Madz25
nope (unless it was required reading that wasnt included in lectures) why read the huge textbook when lecture notes already tell you what you need to know in a nice little concise package! medisforme
I am definitely using my physics text, just due to the fact that I require a ton of practice problems before physics sinks in. I can't see a text being required for anything else, unless their is a particular area you need extra help with.
