Guest daniB2006
Rubberoduck, I don't think you're right. People that are provisional at Mac should hear whether they are moved off the waitlist (at another school) before the July 3rd deadline. Then OMSAS is supposed to notify MAC that the provisional acceptance is no longer so as to free another spot. Am I wrong?
Guest rubberoduck
there is rolling call off the waitlist before JUly 3rd, but that doesn't mean no one will be called off the waitlist after that day. Think of it this way, there will be some shuffling of people between provisional acceptances. Perhaps there is an exchange of people from one waitlist to another. I'm just applying logic, because I'm not on the admission committee. PS I'm aware that people are being called off the waitlist before July 3rd. My example was to show those who didn't get called before that day. Think about it this way, the people who provisionally accept are still being considered on the waitlist to the school of their interest. In essence they are holding onto two spots. Ideally this is resolved before July 3rd, but in the event that they are slightly lower on the other waitlist, they might be high enough to just take the spot that becomes available on July 3rd. This is theoretically speaking, and realistically it may be just a small number, but the admissions committee might as well reject those who didn't get in before the date if the waitlist won't move anymore. In other words, don't give up hope, but don't dwell on it and let that ruin your summer. Med school isn't the end of everything.
Guest lachicachicachica
Hey guys...out of curiosity, have you received any emails from mac at all regarding waitlist (as in when you received the letter in the mail, did you get an email as well)? I've never received any communication via email from Mac and I was wondering if others had....Thanks!
Guest rubberoduck
As far as I know, they send email to you first, and then the package. That only goes for Mac though, because I think Western calls people rather than email
Guest Cheryl37
Congratulations on your good news!! Just out of curiosity, did you graduate high school in 3 years? I'm 22 & I thought that I would be close to the youngest (I was in the older year of the double-cohort). Anywho, way to go for getting in so early :rollin PS - Happy Canada day everyone! Guest rubberoduck
hi cheryl, I'm not sure if that question was directed at me, but since it follows immediately after my post, I'll take it. I actually graduated highschool in 5 years (including OAC). However, I fast tracked through university and am expected to graduate at the end of the summer. I'm 22 this year, same as you. Guest kylerh
How do you go about fast tracking through university? Do you just take courses that are higher levels? Yours truly kylerh
Guest rubberoduck
You just take courses in the summer. They still count toward your total credit. I just happened to be in a specialist program where most of my credits can be used toward a major. I converted a minor to a major and thus successfully completed the degree requirement of a double major
Guest daniB2006
Does anyone know if the class is full yet?
Guest richfranklin
Things have been quiet lately! I hope the class isnt full. However, I was expecting a few day lag after july 3rd for administrative stuff, eg. shrinking the waitlist and seeing how many offers they can give out. Lets hope that good things come our way soon. Anybody hear anything about potential movement soon? Any info would help us who are stuck in limbo!
Guest Cheryl37
Hi Rubberoduck, I was actually asking hopefulmed b/c the post said she (or he) was only 20. Congrats to you too though!
Guest hopefulmed
Hi Cheryl I actually started school when I was 3 and only had to do highschool upto grade 12 (didn't have to do OAC)....that's why overall......I saved a couple of years. Guest rubberoduck
sorry to hear that. I wish the remaining waitlisters best of luck on the application next year. Please remember that interviewers change from year to year. If you were waitlisted and did not get in this year, at least you've made it past so many obstacles. You should be proud of yourselves, because being waitlisted is a good sign toward getting. The competition was extra tough this year with the double cohort. Guest 2loony
Ah well...better luck next year. Well, I am off to go hide in a corner and lick my wounds... Not for long though....I will be back! Better than ever and raring to go! Good luck to everyone! The path to "true love" never did run smooth...or something like that eh? 2L
Guest VwDubber
One of my friends called, and Mac said the class is full now. i don't want to give anyone false hopes but it is only july 11 and mac is historically one of those schools where the waitlist moves well into aug. i went through the same pain in the a$$ wait process last yr and they didn't call me until mid-aug. it's not over until everyone shows up for orientation and you receive a letter from them saying the waitlist has been dissolved. i'm keepin my fingers crossed for you folks cuz i been there and know how it feels
Guest 2loony
VW, Thanks for the support...and thanks to all who have been providing encouragement and tips. My friend has also called Mac admissions who confirmed that the class is currently full. However, I hope that you are right and there is some more movement with people changing their minds or getting acceptances out of province...but who knows at this point? So, I am looking towards the next app cycle and planning a good year ahead. If at first you don't succeed.... 2L P.S And yes...I will try to refrain from future use of overdone proverbs. :rollin
Guest MDWannabe
I too can confirm that the wait list moves, even after the class is full. Some will inevitably try to defer, some will decline in August, some just won't show up in the first week. It seems to happen every year, and offers over my 3 years at Mac continued to go out into September. There is ALWAYS hope.
Guest rubberoduck
Yes I have also read that people received offers way into late august. Sometimes graduate/PhD students can't finish their projects on time and etc.
Guest waitingINwonder
I've just had my request for a deferral granted and wanted to let you know that there will be waitlist movement. Good luck!

Guest MacKenzie16
FYI The waitlist is still moving!!!!!!!!!! I just got the email last night! I'm still in shock about it and it hasn't really sunk in yet! I thought it was some sort of hoax at first. I am super-excited! Good luck to everyone still waiting! Let's see that waitlist fly! :rollin
