Who feels burned out?

Recommended Posts

Every day after work, I feel like I got hit by a ten-ton truck. And now my eyes are burning...and I can't even type this properly....

Does anyone feel that the older they get, the more easily they get tired? Like technically, my lab job isn't TOO bad/demanding, but I feel SOOOOO exhausted even though I'm doing 1/5th what I was doing while in school.

I'm having doubts I can keep doing this until August gahhhh....too bad this is a job I can't quit. *sighs*

Hey

I can totally relate to you. This is all so difficult!!! However: think about how good it will feel when you read the acceptance letter/ e-mail one day. Thats what keeps me going.

Best of luck.

I was feeling the same thing when I finished my exams, so I went on a holiday to get refreshed and now, I'm back taking an MCAT prep-course and working full-time doing research. It feels like September for me though. What keeps me going? reading an acceptance letter and accomplishing other life-long goal of visiting Old Trafford once a year for a match. :) Championnat, Championnat, Ole, Ole, Ole.

Trying working construction for 10 hours a day, and then you can say that you got hit by a ten ton truck. hahah jks. I think being a "premed" just naturally predisposes you to being tired all the time even if you do nothing :P

take it easy.

Oo another photography fanatic! I need to buy a new camera first....but I'm planning to go nuts afterwards.

I am super frustrated because....I am living a weird daily routine.

Every morning on the subway, I listen to music and have my story run through my head, and other various thoughts about life. I get super super inspired to do creative writing. Although I know I can't do it at that moment, I promise myself---tonight, tonight I will write.....

I get off the subway, time for work....creativity slowly withers and dies.

By the end of day, I am super exhausted/dead....and by night, after chatting on MSN for hours and randomly surfing websites in the midst of complaining about being tired....I realize I have zero or negative energy to write anything. My creativity has turned to mush.

Repeat x 5 this week.

I WANT TO WRITE.....

Vacation is actually making me more tired. I'm looking forward to just kicking back, going to some summer fairs, watching my boyfriend blast the paint off his car with cornstarch, and working on my photography this summer.

Cornstarch....wow that's..that's...you know that sounds like something I would hear from RedGreen.

On the opposite end of the scale though. I wake up each morning as if I have been alive for 1000years, but slowly I build up steem and then I can go for 12-24hours depending on what I need. Funny thing is, it doesn't matter how much sleep I get, this happens every time.

As for being hooked to a caffeine drip, I am planning on just going the good old Ironman method.

I know what you guys mean about stress. I'm working full time and decided to do 3 summer classes online, bad idea! Going into my last year of undergrad I'm finding burnout to be continuous and my focus for med school to be waning. I want my first year self back haha, it was all so clear back then. Premed can be so frustrating 'playing the game' so this year I gave up and am just doing what I want=likely not enough EC for application. At least this school term has sunny weather.

I just got a nikon D80 and am loving it! thinking of doing photography for the school paper next year

try this for being tired. I have 2 kids under 3, work full time an hour away from home, have a part-time business on the side, just sold my house and bought a new one, studying for the MCAT and doing some volunteering. but hey, better get used to it if you're going to be an MD

Hey, look on the bright side: maybe it's good to be busy while studying for the MCAT as it keeps your mind active.

After finishing first year Uni, and sitting around doing practically nothing except applying for summer jobs/volunteer, I can certainly tell you that after opening my sis' Kaplan MCAT biological science book to learn some new things, I just wasn't learning at the same pace as I was during Uni.

I have a beautiful new Nikon! My dad won't buy me an SLR unless I get into med though, but he got me a little point-and-shoot to practice on :)

What kind? I got a P5100 for Christmas. It's very niiiice, and has a big advantage over an SLR - it has all the manual/automatic/exposure settings only for no more than a third the weight.

I'm just finishing up my last term as a grad student - for now, this entails two fairly light courses, one low stress TA, and my research paper. As of today, I'm to have completed "all my results" by the end of June.

Oo! I'm buying a camera this weekend! I'd like to know the kind too =P

Someone stole my old beloved camera *cries* (with TONS of pictures I took of scenery and stuff *cries some more*). But my parents finally decided to buy me a new one and my guilt towards my stupidity for getting it stolen is kinda slowly decreasing.

Ha, my parents will never buy me a SLR...I WISH though. I guess I have to earn my own money after many many years of school.

I'm a Canon devotee. I actually prefer my SLR over my point and shoot because of the weight. Point and shoot is good though, for the ease of use and taking candid shots.

I'm also wrapping up! Writing like mad! My boss wants me to defend in a month. Jeez. (I'll miss grad school)
